Anti-social behaviour

Everyone has the right to enjoy peace, quiet and security in and around their home and we take all incidents of anti-social behaviour very seriously.

Examples of anti-social behaviour include:

  • Noise nuisance
  • Intimidation or harassment
  • Unlawful tipping of rubbish/waste
  • Vandalism and graffiti.

We urge everyone to try where possible to resolve any issues themselves..

If you are suffering from any kind of anti-social behaviour report the problem as soon as possible to your housing officer or the Anti-social Behaviour Officer on 01327 707500.

If you complain about anti-social behaviour to us we will work to resolve problems in the early stages. We will:

  • Record your complaint
  • Develop a plan of action with you
  • Investigate the complaint
  • Offer confidential mediation
  • Take action to tackle the problems
  • Give you support
  • Work with other agencies, such as the police, for action if necessary.

Action, we and/or our partners can take, includes:

  • Contacting the perpetrator to try and resolve the problem at an early stage
  • Warning letters
  • Formal warnings/cautions
  • Anti-social Behaviour Orders
  • Acceptable Behaviour Contracts
  • Environmental Health Action for Statutory Nuisance (e.g. Noise Abatement Notices)
  • Injunctions
  • Demoted Tenancies
  • Eviction.

We recognise the important role our complainants and witnesses play in helping us to tackle anti-social behaviour. You can help us by keeping a record of incidents which occour. To assist you to do this you can click here to download a log sheet.

If you are a witness we will provide you with support throughout the whole process of dealing with a problem.
