As a Daventry & District Housing tenant you have the right to swap your home with another of our tenants, or with a tenant of another housing association in the district.
This is known as a mutual exchange and Daventry & District Housing operate a register of tenants who wish to exchange their homes.
Your housing officer will be able to give you more details.
Before swapping homes you must have the permission of each landlord. You must get our permission in writing. You can do this by using a Changing Homes application form. A form is available here to download.
We may only refuse permission for certain reasons, for example if your house will be too big or too small for the family you want to exchange with.
If you have rent arrears or if you have not kept to the conditions of your tenancy agreement, we may give our permission to exchange only if you pay your rent or take some action to keep to your tenancy agreement. For example we could ask you to tidy your garden if it is overgrown, before agreeing to a swap.
We can also help you to secure a home swap outside the district. Your housing officer can help you to find out more about this. There are a number of websites advertising mutual exchanges across the UK. Some of these websites will charge you to register.
