DAVENTRY & District Housing tenants were treated like ‘VIPs’ at a special event held for them to voice “what is important to them” for the New Year.
Daventry & District Housing took almost 70 tenants, of all ages, to its VIP (Voice your opinions, Influence our services and Promote tenants views) event, which gives tenants the opportunity to have their say about Daventry & District Housing’s work.
The event gave tenants the opportunity to tell the housing association, which looks after 3,100 properties in Daventry, what their priorities are for the year ahead.
Tenants decorated a Christmas tree with baubles they had written their priorities on, which included having more activities for young people, garages, off road parking, communication and continual improvement of the repairs service.
Staff from Daventry & District Housing used the event to encourage tenants to learn more about getting involved in decision making by joining the board as a tenant board member, as well as giving them an overview of the achievements and improvements tenants have been involved in.
Community development manager Ciara McMillan said: “As a tenant focused organisation we rely on tenants to tell us what matters most to them. This in turn helps to shape the way we manage homes and provide services in their communities.
“This event was a way of saying thank you to tenants for giving up their time as well as encouraging even more tenants to get involved in our work over the coming year.”
Tenants and staff were treated to festive entertainment by the Daventry Choral Society singing carols, and enjoyed a festive meal.
